CLEARWATER BAND WINS FLORIDA ROCK-OFF

April 18, 2005

EFFUSION, a four-piece funk/groove/new age band from Clearwater, took top honors Sunday in the Finals of FLARO9, the 9th Annual Florida Rock-Off competition for original high school bands.

EFFUSION, which represented Countryside High School, delivered a powerful set of tightly-orchestrated funky, smooth compositions before a very affirming and crowd of screaming fans and supportive adults.

The prize package included $1,000 from Reindeer Records, an indie label that presents FLARO every year, plus the well-earned title, ‘Best Young Band In Central Florida.” In addition, Hurricane Pass Recording Studios of Palm Harbor donated 10 hours of studio time to the winning band.

EFFUSION was one of five finalists who gave the impressive nine-member judging panel much to consider. Other bands included GOOD GRAEFF from Sarasota, STRANGE BREW from Valrico, TEN SPEED INDIAN from Fort Myers and UNEXPECTED GUESTS from Tampa.

Many bands and individual musicians were recognized for various achievements and outstanding performances (regardless of where their band placed in the ranks). [A complete list of awards follows].

The show was held at Boomerz in Seminole.
